No flower can lift someone’s spirits quite like a sunflower. They are bright and cheery, and as warm and inviting as the summer sun. They have long been admired for their sunny and warm disposition.
A beautiful and happy flower, sunflowers are a natural emblem of sunshine and optimism with healing powers that uplift and inspire. Sunflowers are heliotropic, meaning they move to face the sun and track its movement to optimize its use of light.
Recipients of the Arcadia Sunflower Award are selected through nominations from our community, and presented to a member of our staff who most exemplifies a sunflower:
