My family recently brought my Mom to Arcadia II Assisted Living of Crofton in Gambrills, MD. My Mom has dementia and was not happy at all about being placed in an assisted living facility. She was quite angry. The following day, she sounded happier than I had heard her sound in a very long time. I was amazed. After we left, the staff must have done a terrific job in making her feel at home. They have been extremely accommodating about everything I have asked of them. I have no doubts that we found the right home for Mom. I can feel good now that I know she is safe and well cared for.
My father spent his last months here, the staff was amazing, they took care of everything, most importantly my father was happy there. They brought in Hospice of the Chesapeake as his condition progressed. They were in tune to every change that was taking place and a protocol was set into motion. His diet, cleanliness, happiness, medications, his comfort, pain management… He was treated with love and dignity by the staff. I would not have been able to navigate all of this on my own. I am forever grateful to the staff for everything they did.

“What a wonderful experience!
After spending 3 years in a fancy, expensive concierge assisted living community, my mom’s declining condition highlighted that we were only paying for a fancy building. We started to look for alternatives and took a look at the 15-bed Arcadia community. We thought about the Assisted Living first, but my mom was declining and needed memory care. Since the day she joined Arcadia Crofton in November 2022 I realized for the first time in 3 years that I could sleep well knowing that she was well cared for and her needs were met. The building didn’t have that fancy concierge lobby, but you realize quickly how little that matters.
The staff are AMAZING! Like every other healthcare facility these days, turnover continues to be an issue. However, every time a new staff member is hired at Arcadia, they’re professional, compassionate, friendly and caring. That speaks highly to the management quality. I can’t say enough good things about our experience over the last 6 months. I highly recommend Arcadia Crofton! “
“Arcadia of Crofton took over from a previous owner and it changed 100 percent for the better.
The staff was so caring towards my Mon. She was put into Hospice shortly after they took over and they were wonderful to her. They made her last 3 months as great as they could. They were very kind to me when she was dying and packed all of her things for me so I didn’t have to. I’m an ER nurse and I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place for a loved one!!!! “
“Mom lived at Arcadia of Crofton for about 6 months before she passed.
We very much liked the staff and residents there and will miss them. We looked at several assisted living homes in the area and this one was, by far the best. The home/room was spacious enough for the wheelchairs and walkers that are required by most, if not all the residents. And it was very nicely decorated throughout with different sections for the residents to watch TV together, make puzzles, play games, etc. The rooms are just enough and you are welcome to decorate it to make it as much like “home” as possible for your loved one.
The residents are encouraged to come out and participate with the other residents but are not forced to do so if they prefer to remain in their rooms and do their own thing. They always had three home cooked meals prepared and were willing to offer any special snacks if requested.
The staff is caring, kind and actually enjoy their job, which is a very difficult one to say the least. If any issue should arise they are quick to communicate with you in an attempt to work with your family to do what is best for your loved one; and they make themselves available to you should you have any questions or issues that need addressing. Visitors are welcome anytime unannounced.”
“I recently visited my Aunt that is a resident of Arcadia of Denton and she looked well taken.
I found the staff to be very kind as well as patient with some residence that needed ” a little extra help”. The entire facility from what I could see was extremely clean as well as my Aunt’s bedroom and bath. There were no unpleasant odors that are often present in some facilities and nursing homes. It was nice that the common areas and my Aunt’s room have a very” home like feel” unlike some facilities that are more institutional like. She has her own furnishings, pictures and personal items that help to make it feel more like home to her. There is also a large back yard that she enjoys.
It’s hard when family has to make the decision to place a resident, but it is comforting to know they are taken care of and safe. I think Arcadia provides both.”
“The Arcadia of Denton staff are remarkable.
When entering the house, you’re immediately greeted with the smells of home cooked meals and the sounds of residents humming along to classic music. The activities director, Christine, spends every moment she’s there engaging the residents in a variety of fun activities such as decorating cookies, sharing stories, & playing games. It truly feels like stepping into the home of one big family.”
“I’m giving this a 5 star rating especially because Christine the Activities coordinator puts so much love into her job. My mom is at this location and she just absolutely adores Christine.

“Earlier this year I was looking for a place for my dad that was near me.
He lives in New Jersey and I was hoping he would move to Maryland. I looked at many places and took information back to him. It’s easy to evaluate data and pictures but much harder to “get a feel” for a place.
I found Denton Arcadia to be a warm & welcoming place. I told him about the rooms, that he could bring his “stuff” and about the activities and my impression of the house. He can be a picky eater but seemed satisfied with the menu (that’s saying a lot!). He liked the pictures I took back but mostly he appreciated the comfortable “feeling” I got when I visited.
The staff were so pleasant and helpful. And the answered every question I had (through my numerous calls! Sadly, dad passed away before I could move him but his selection of Denton was absolute! Thank you all so very much for everything Arcadia staff! “
“This review is on one employee of Denton Arcadia in particular, Christine Marie.
My mother is going through one of the most difficult times in her life. She has Parkinson’s and it has progressed to the point of her having hallucinations and is in extreme depression. She has had to be separated from my father and to say the least she is not taking it well.
Christine Marie is just about the only person that can put a smile on my mother’s face with her compassion and warm and gentle spirit. She has been such a positive light for my mother and we are so grateful that she is with Arcadia.”
“This is the third facility which my mother has been in since November, due to Covid.
Arcadia of Denton has been by far the best. The staff has been very responsive and wonderful to work with. Mom has been happy here. What more can you ask for? A big thank you to Shannon, Amie, Karen, Christine and the rest of the staff!”
“Awesome staff who truly care about each and every resident. The small size feels like home, and the home cooked meals really make it feel comfortable!”
